Vice director of Viet Nam Administration of Forestry Bui Chinh Nghia told the online newspaper of Government chinhphu.vn about the impressive growth of Viet Nam’s timber and wooden product sector, particularly amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The timber and forestry products processing industry must strive to achieve exports of at least US$9 billion this year and $12-23 billion by 2020, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.
The export of wood and timber products is forecast to bring in US$8 billion in 2017, posting a 17 per cent year-on-year increase and surpassing the target of $7-7.5 billion set earlier this year.
